| El año 2013 marcará el cierre de una etapa importante para la Revista Chilena de Historia Natural (RCHN), ya que a partir de 2014 comenzará a publicarse a través de la plataforma SpringerOpen, incluyendo algunos cambios relevantes en su diseño, manejo editorial, e idioma, entre otros. Por lo tanto en este artículo sintetizo algunos aspectos clave en la evolución de RCHN desde su fundación a fines del siglo 19, a través de dos períodos históricos: (a) 1897-1963, donde destaca la figura de su creador Carlos E. Porter y el rol de la Sociedad Chilena de Historia Natural, y (b) 1983-2013, su etapa reciente ligada a la Sociedad de Biología de Chile. | Suite à l’initiation du programme REEFCORES (REEFs and CORals form the EparseS), deux missions menées en 2011 et en 2013 dans l’Archipel des Glorieuses (Nord Madagascar) ont permis de documenter les empreintes des épisodes de déglaciation dans la morphologie des terrasses récifales émergées et submergées. L’objectif principal de cette étude est d’abord de documenter les stagnations du niveau marin qui ont été engendrées au cours de la dernière remontée du niveau marin et sur les terrasses du dernier interglaciaire (MIS 5e). | An analysis of the effect of 15 years of research in organic food systems in Denmark showed that it has had a high impact on the development of the sector. There are three main reasons: First of all, the content of research programs and the funded projects have been closely aligned with the needs of the industry as expressed by farmers, advisors and organizations. | O objetivo deste estudo foi verificar o efeito de doses específicas do composto 1-metilciclopropeno (1-MCP), após a colheita, nos aspectos fisiológicos e na qualidade físico-química de maçãs Eva durante o armazenamento refrigerado. Após a aplicação dos tratamentos com diferentes doses de 1-MCP (0, 10, 50, 100 e 500mg L-1), os frutos foram armazenados em câmara fria 0,5°C (±0,5) por até 135 dias. O armazenamento refrigerado juntamente com a aplicação de 1-MCP resultou em uma menor produção de etileno, principalmente nos frutos tratados com as doses de 10, 50 e 100mg L-1. | Biotic and abiotic stresses can alter the hormone balance and trigger the activation of pathways involved in the cotton stress responses, resulting in the abscission of squares, flowers and young bolls and consequent reductions in the seed cotton yield and fiber yield. As part of the mechanism that primarily regulates the protective response of plants against stresses, ethylene is considered a key hormone involved in this response, and increased ethylene synthesis has been observed when plants are subjected to stress. | This manuscript reports the synthesis of a series of N-substituted derivatives of 2-phenitidine. First, the reaction of 2-phenitidine (1) with benzene sulfonyl chloride (2) yielded N-(2-ethoxyphenyl) benzenesulfonamide (3), which further on treatment with sodium hydride and alkyl halides (4a-g) furnished into new sulfonamides (5a-g). Second, the phenitidine reacted with benzoyl chloride (6) and acetyl chloride (8) to yield the reported N-benzoyl phenitidine (7) and N-acetyl phenitidine (9), respectively. These derivatives were characterized by infrared spectroscopy, ¹H-NMR, and EI-MS, and then screened against acetylcholinesterase, butylcholinesterase, and lipoxygenase enzyme, and were found to be potent inhibitors of butyrylcholinesterase alone. |

| We present a detailed 3-D P-wave velocity model obtained by first-arrival travel-time tomography with seismic refraction data in the segment boundary of the Sumatra subduction zone across Simeulue Island, and an image of the top of the subducted oceanic crust extracted from depth-migrated multi-channel seismic reflection profiles. We have picked P-wave first arrivals of the air-gun source seismic data recorded by local networks of ocean-bottom seismometers, and inverted the travel-times for a 3-D velocity model of the subduction zone. | Background: Interleukin-22 (IL-22) plays an important role in the regulation of immune responses. However, little is known about its function or structure in fish. Results: The IL-22 gene was first cloned from So-iny mullet (Liza haematocheila), one of commercially important fish species in China. Then, 3-D structure model of the mullet IL-22 was constructed by comparative modeling method using human IL-22 (1M4R) as template, and a 5 ns molecular dynamics (MD) was studied. | A 3-D tomographic inversion of first arrival times of shot profiles recorded by a dense 2-D OBS network provides an unprecedented constraint on the P-wave velocities heterogeneity of the upper-crustal part of the North Marmara Trough (NMT), over a region of 180 km long by 50 km wide.
